The Trust initially formed as a campaign group in 2002 to halt the proposed sell-off of the building. We became a Building Preservation Trust in 2003, forming a company limited by guarantee (number 04641883). We attained registered charity status in 2008.
 The current board consists of the following trustees:

The board directors have a wide range of experience and expertise including:
Campaigning, managing charitable trusts, project management, accountancy, local and national history, information management, environmental work, change management, town planning, fundraising, consultancy as well as membership in many local community groups in Southeast London.
